The Importance of Weeding in a Library: A Case Study of the Technical Library of the Air Surveillance Service

Abstract
Weeding is an essential process in records and library management that involves selecting and discarding documents that have lost their relevance, usefulness, or are in poor condition, with the aim of optimizing space, improving accessibility, and maintaining the relevance of the collection. This article analyzes the importance of weeding in libraries, drawing on a real-world records management project at a technical library in the aeronautical maintenance division of the Ministry of Public Safety. It highlights the benefits of weeding for operational efficiency, the preservation of the documentary heritage, and the improvement of service quality for users.
