Abstract

On Saturday, November 21, 1970, statements by Guillermo Malavassi Vargas appeared in La Nación with a prominent headline on its front page "5000 new pariahs in the country." These protests unleashed a controversy -The Nation gave the title to the participation of the contenders "Debate in the University" - that lasted more than two months on the subject of the right of admission of new students to the University of Costa Rica, the only university then in the country.
